Из высказываний
Свободные заезды (пятница):
"We spent today trying to get the car to handle correctly. I think initially we
had it set too stiffly, which made it difficult to drive. That is why I spun a couple of
times. Unfortunately, the engine stalled following my first spin and I lost most of the
morning session as a result. We made a number of set-up changes during the break, and the
situation improved this afternoon. We still need to get the car to cope better with the
bumps here, however, if we are to set a good time in qualifying. We will work with the
engineers overnight and hopefully we will be able to find a good chassis set-up for
tomorrow."
Квалификация (суббота):
"I am disappointed because I feel I could have got a better result. I was quite
comfortable with the low-downforce set-up we were using today, but then the car got away
from me at the first corner and hit the barriers hard. I returned to the garage and went
out in the spare car, but couldn't better the time I did in my first run. We have what I
think will be a good race set-up, so we will concentrate on fine-tuning that in the
warm-up tomorrow morning. If I am able to avoid accidents and we have good pit stops, I
think there is a chance of getting a good result."
Гонка (воскресение):
"It was good to be able to race against the 1997 Tyrrell drivers, Mika Salo and
Jos Verstappen, for much of this afternoon. Thanks to good pit work by the team, I came
out ahead of Mika after my pit stop and then really enjoyed being able to race with him.
Two laps before the chequered flag, Michael Schumacher overtook me going into one of the
chicanes. I lost downforce briefly as a result, locked up a front wheel and went straight
across the chicane, fortunately without doing any damage. I kept up the pressure on Mika
and eventually re-passed him on the last lap just after the third chicane.
"Overall, it feels good to have finished well after yesterday's big shunt. My race
engineer, David Brown, told me on the grid this afternoon to bring the car back in one
piece, and I did, so I'm happy. In Hungary, if we find a good chassis set-up, we could be
in even better shape than we have been here. What I really want now is to score my first
World Championship point."
