Из высказываний
Свободные заезды (пятница):
"Like Jean, I spent part of the day doing back-to-back testing between the 'Twin
Tower' wings and the new diffusor. I opted to run this afternoon without the extra wings,
and to be honest it was the wrong thing to do. It seemed that whatever we did to the car
after that just made it more nervous, so I would say that as a package the 'Twin Towers'
are the better way to go and will be running them again tomorrow. We had one more run
planned today, but that was delayed when my car developed an oil leak."
Квалификация (суббота):
"Yesterday my car was at its best on its last run, when it had a good balance.
Today we started off with the old problem where initial understeer became oversteer in
mid-corner, but again we dialled that out. By qualifying it was the same as it was
yesterday, but unfortunately some others improved, as I had expected they would.
Nevertheless, I am reasonably happy with seventh place, although we still have a lot of
hard work ahead if we are to close the gap to those in front of us. I didn't go for my
fourth run because by then my only two likely challengers were Barichello and Villeneuve.
When it became clear that neither was going to pose a threat I decided it was more
sensible to save a new set of tyres for the race. As I said yesterday, it's going to be
tough to keep the tyres fresh enough to maintain their consistency."
Гонка (воскресенье):
"I lost the chance of fifth place right at the start of the race, and I'm bitterly
disappointed about it. I was always one of the best at starts last year, but despite
practising a lot this season I still haven't got them right. It just hasn't clicked.
"Besides the start, my race wasn't bad. I was pleased with the way I kept the
tyres at their best, although I couldn't really lean on them when the fuel load was at its
lowest. I was worried they wouldn't stand much treatment at that stage. The other thing
was that I just couldn't slipstream anyone. I could get close to Jacques, but there was no
chance to pass. The only time I did get right with him, in the third corner at the start,
he just accelerated away. I also had an exhaust problem 10 or so laps into the race,
though it didn't really affect the performance.
"The team did a great job on the pit stops, and the car was reliable, but it all
came down to the start. I'm the most disappointed man on the team today."
