Preview:
"I really like the atmosphere in Montreal in fact I like the ambience of the country as a whole, so there is a feel good factor when you arrive at the circuit. It's a sort of Monza type race track made up of long straights, tight chicanes mixed with a low grip surface and a couple of hairpins thrown in. But I enjoy the challenge and it seems to suit my driving style.
"There is nowhere quite like Montreal; it really is a very exciting city. When it comes to racing here though I have been a bit unlucky in the past and so this year I am hoping to make up for previous years disappointments.
"The team as a whole are completely focused on taking one race at a time and not allowing our recent success to make us complacent. Our objective is, as always, to win and the West McLaren Mercedes team will be aiming to come away from the Canadian Grand Prix with as many points as possible added to our current Championship standings."

"My sector times on different laps show that overall I am just about one tenth off Mika's time, but I didn't manage to get a clear lap to put it all together. Let's hope that this will be different tomorrow."

"A special thank you to the whole team for giving me the chance to go for my eighth pole position. I am very pleased with today's result, however there is still some set up work to be done for tomorrow's race."

"I made a good start and fought off the challenges of Michael Schumacher, who, being on a two stop, as opposed to my one stop strategy, was carrying less fuel and was able to go quicker on the straights at the start of the race than I could. Despite the safety car's appearance on two occasions I maintained my lead. However, a throttle linkage problem on lap 19 reduced the engine power to half and forced me to retire from the race."
