Из высказываний
Свободные заезды (пятница):
"I am pleased with the work we have done today, but not so pleased to have missed
much of the last session after I stalled the engine. Monaco is a demanding circuit, and
although I am familiar with it from having driven here in the Porsche Cup, it is very
different in a Formula One car. We spent much of the day working on chassis balance and I
am confident we can improve our lap times on Saturday as long as it doesn't rain."
Квалификация (суббота):
"I had hoped for s better grid position, but we struggled a little with the set up
of the chassis today. We tried Goodyear's "prime" and "option" tyres
this morning, and found the prime to be quicker so that is what I qualified on. I have
some experience of this circuit from last year's Porsche Supercup race, but it is very
different in a Formula One car, I can tell you. Aside from having a god car, which the
Tyrrell 026 is, I think you also need to have considerable experience of this place to put
in really quick laps. Tomorrow, I hope to have a competitive race and build my experience
of Monaco."
Гонка (воскресенье):
"This was a difficult race made more difficult by the fact I wasn't feeling well.
As a result, I am happy to have finished. If we hadn't lost a little time during the
second pit stop and I had got back out on the track ahead of Nakano, we would have
achieved a top-10 finish. Also, my final set of tyres just didn't seem to have any grip
compared with the earlier sets and I was forced to reduce my pace late in the race when
our telemetry showed the engine suffering with an oil pressure problem. If everything had
gone perfectly, I believe it would have been possible to finish in eighth place, ahead of
Damon Hill. Now I am looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix where we will be able to
use the P10 specification Ford engine for the first time in qualifying."
