До начала Гран-При:
"Last year at Monza, we were not at all competitive. This year, although our car is not that well suited to the track we should do much better. We have done a lot of preparation work for this race and the longer wheelbase car does make a positive difference here. We should be closer to the McLarens than we were at Hockenheim and as quick as everyone else. Monza is very important for the team: not only because it is the home race, but also because of the championship battle. At least we can rely on the one hundred percent support of the tifosi to make this a special weekend."

"Even though Friday's time is never very important it is still a nice feeling to be at the top of the page, ahead of Michael and in front of all the tifosi at Monza. This was a very positive day and we got through all our programme. It was good work. I even managed a useful run in the rain. Tomorrow we can concentrate on perfecting the car as there is still room for improvement. I don't know if I can be quickest again tomorrow, but I feel we can really put McLaren under pressure."

Квалификация (суббота):
"Not bad! I went out on a set-up we had not tried and it gave me a bit too much understeer. There was no time to change it. I started my last lap, which was my quickest one, behind a slower car and as I could not pass it going into the first corner, I got a bid held up Without that, I could have been quicker still. I start the race on the good side of the track and if I get off the line well maybe I can get past the McLarens. Now we must take a good look at our set-up choices for the race."

Гонка (воскресение):
"I have not been on the podium for a while now and it is absolutely fantastic to finish second again, especially here at Monza. My start was not bad, I saw Michael moving towards me and I was worried he had not seen me, but I was able to get clear. I was bale to pull away from Villeneuve. I ran wide at Lesmo, losing three seconds but when Villeneuve went out I slowed my pace as the car was set up very stiff and was very difficult to drive. Then I hear about Hakkinen's problem and pushed hard again for a couple of laps. Once I had passed him I slowed down again."
