Свободные заезды (пятница):
"It was a difficult day really. Aside from working on chassis balance and tyre evaluation, which are normal things when you are preparing for a Grand Prix, we also had to check brake wear carefully because this is one of the toughest circuits of all on brakes. We tried some new friction material part way through the session and it was difficult to find a comfortable front-rear brake balance. That is why I spun several times. My car was carrying a big fuel load all day and I discovered a couple of places where I can improve my driving style and gain time. Tomorrow, in qualifying trim, I think we should be in good shape."

Квалификация (суббота):
"It was a difficult session for me and I think my comparative lack of Formula One experience cost me a number of places in qualifying today. The team opted for Goodyear's harder compound tyres but I misunderstood the strategy for using these and wasted one of my two sets by aborting a run when I thought the track was still too wet. I should have stayed out for two more laps to get a better feel for the track conditions and the balance of my car and then gone for a serious qualifying time on my second run. When I did go out on my second set of tyres, I lost two laps when I overshot the chicanes. Then on the final lap, when I should have set my best time, I lost the downforce while following another car and had understeer from the last chicane to the Parabolica. Anyway, you live and learn and now I'm just looking forward to the race."

"This was a tough race, but also a great learning opportunity for me. The Italian Grand Prix at Monza is totally different from any event I have experienced before. Four times I overtook drivers but then they cut across the chicanes and re-passed me. It was annoying, but a lesson for me. For some reason, my second set of tyres caused the car to oversteer quite a bit, but then the next set was much better. As a result, I was able to overtake Barrichello and pull away from him at 0.3 sec per lap. I was also fast enough that Alesi couldn't catch me for 10 laps. I must thank everyone at Tyrrell and Cosworth. I am happy with today's result."
